This extraordinary new home, built on a 1 (+) acre site in Marblehead's exclusive West Shore Drive neighborhood, sits atop a bluff overlooking Salem Harbor. Inspired by Edwin Lutyens, this home utilizes complex sweeping roofs, multiple fireplaces and simple forms accented with stucco, reminiscent of the English country house style. Form + Place collaborated with Patrowicz Land Development to gain the necessary approvals from the Conservation Commission and the Marblehead Planning Board, which was required since the house is located in the Shoreline Expanded Single-Residence District. Working closely with the client, Form + Place explored numerous site plan alternatives that had to negotiate coastal buffers, the footprint of the existing home [to be demolished], setbacks, ledge conditions and height constraints. This house completed construction in the fall of 2015.
