This new 5,000+ sf residence, located directly on one of Marblehead's few beaches, has sweeping views of Salem Harbor. Designed to take into account the predominant vernacular architecture of the area, this house combines a number of thoughtfully scaled volumes with a variety of roof forms and carefully selected materials. The intimate entry court, carved out of the ledge, gives way to a free-flowing first floor plan with extensive glazing opening up onto a blue stone terrace, with unobstructed views to the beach and the ocean beyond. Form + Place worked closely with the owners to shepherd the project through site plan approvals and a design process that involved extensive 3-D modeling of exterior volumetrics and interior details.
