Ranch Cabin - Roscoe, MT

Single Family Residential

Montana_2.jpg

Overlooking the Beartooth mountain range in south-central Montana, this private home was designed to fit into the historic context of a 120-year old family ranch. While incorporating the aesthetics and materials of the local region, this incredibly energy efficient house was constructed using a timber frame in-filled with prefabricated insulated foam “sandwich” panels. A small wood-burning stove and radiant heat in the basement slab provide all the warmth necessary. An interior stair made of rough-sawn lumber from Cody, WY, a chinked log siding with a “hatcheted” finish and railings, inside and out, that use a spiral rebar from the nearby Stillwater palladium mine add to the character.
